In our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section you can find the answers to questions about residence permits, visa's, MSM programmes, short executive programmes applications, scholarships, students affairs, transportation and Maastricht. 

  • Are the MSM programmes accredited?

    Maastricht School of Management (MSM) is part of the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics (SBE).

    SBE has been awarded three prestigious accreditations, AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA, resulting in what is known as the Triple Crown accreditation. Only 1% of business schools worldwide can boast this honour, many of which are SBE partner institutes.    

    These accreditations also apply to MSM’s MBA and Master of Arts in Management programmes. In addition these are accredited by NVAO.

  • Can I pay the application fee when I start the program? I do not earn that kind of money

    If you intend to apply for a Nuffic Scholarship, you could apply for an application fee waiver. Please ask the admissions office for more information/ requirements.

  • Do I have to submit the GMAT Scores?

    Applicants for the MBA and Master in Management programmes are required to take a GMAT and obtain a score a score of 565+ (or the GMAT Focus Edition with a score of 565+ or the GMAT Exam 10th Edition with a score of 600+). In addition to a GMAT, we also accept a GRE with an equivalent score. 

    Without a GMAT or GRE, or with a non-satisfactory result, students will be required to complete five online preparatory (foundation) courses (Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Economics and Write & Cite Academic Writing Readiness) prior to the programme.

    Please ask the Admissions Office for more details. A high GMAT score also may give you an important discount on the tuition fee for our Master in Management and Full-time MBA programmes. We have a limited number of GMAT/GRE Achievement Scholarships available for a GMAT score of 650 or higher or GRE equivalent.   • Do I need to submit a proof of English proficiency?

    For the MSM Master in Management and MBA programmes, we have the following minimum English language requirements:

    • 88 TOEFL internet-based
    • 570 TOEFL paper-based
    • 570 Institutional TOEFL
    • 6.5 IELTS

    Applicants who have completed their Bachelor and/or Master degree in English, or applicants from Anglophone countries, may be exempted from this requirement, at the discretion of the MSM Board of Admissions.

    For the MSM Executive PhD programme, the minimum English level accepted is 600 PBT, 100 ICT or 240 CBT (TOEFL) or 7.0 (IELTS). Native speakers and candidates who have received their bachelor’s or master’s education in English are exempted.

    Candidates for the MSM Short Executive Programmes should have an adequate level of spoken and written English (C1 of C2 level) to be able to follow the programme and to actively participate. 

  • Does MSM offer a Master in Management by distance learning?

    No, Maastricht School of Management's Master in Management programme is a full-time residential programme, conducted in Maastricht. 

  • Does MSM offer an MBA program by distance learning?

    MSM offers the Zoom-based Global Online MBA, providing you the opportunity to benefit from the flexibility of an online MBA with the experience of an on-campus MBA. The programme has no obligations for residential weeks, but you can choose to follow the MBA expertise track at MSM in Maastricht (two weeks in June every year).   • How can I apply for an MSM programme?

    To apply for one of MSM's programmes, you can fill out our online application form or contact the Admissions Office at MSM-admissions@maastrichtuniversity.nl.

  • I do not have a Bachelor degree. Can I still apply for the MSM programmes?

    In order to be admitted into our Master in Management and MBA programmes you need at least a Bachelor degree.

    To be admitted in the Executive PhD you would need a Master's degree.

    Candidates for our Short Executive programmes are not required to have a Bachelor's degree but should be able to function academically and professionally at Bachelor's level.

  • I do not have GMAT scores. Can I still apply?

    If you don't have GMAT or GRE scores you still can apply for our MBA and Master programmes. However, without these scores, you will be required to complete five online preparatory courses. Ask our Admissions office for more details, MSM-admissions@maastrichtuniversity.nl

  • I have another diploma/degree (not a Bachelor degree). Is this sufficient to apply for one of your programmes?

    The admissions board will have to decide on this. Please send a scanned copy of your diploma/degree and transcript to MSM-admissions@maastrichtuniversity.nl. The admissions board will review your diploma/degree and let you know as soon as possible whether it is equivalent to a bachelor degree.

  • Is there a relationship between MSM and Maastricht University (UM)?

    Since 1 September 2022, MSM is part of the Maastricht University (UM) School of Business and Economics (SBE). 

  • What are the minimum English language requirements?

    For the MSM Master in Management and MBA programmes, we have the following minimum English language requirements:

  • When will application sessions commence

    You can apply online for our MBA, Master in Management, and Executive programmes. For our MBA and Master in Management programmes the admissions board will start with the review of the files as of October in the year prior to the start of the programme. You can find the application deadlines for the MBA and Master in Management programmes on the programme pages. 

    For our Short Executive Programmes please have a look at or website as the programmes have different start dates (and application deadlines) during the year.
