Course objectives

The training programme is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop gender-responsive policies, programs, projects, promote women's empowerment, and accelerate progress toward gender equality and inclusive, sustainable development in their countries and sectors. Specifically, the course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to:

  • Understand the economic costs of gender inequality, implement gender-responsive budgeting, promote women's financial inclusion, and empower women in key sectors.
  • Recognize the importance of women's political participation and leadership, promote gender parity in leadership, and develop action plans to advocate for women's empowerment.
  • Understand Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and its root causes, and design and advocate for policies to prevent and respond to GBV.
  • Assess the gendered impacts of climate change, integrate gender considerations into climate policies design, actions and climate finance.
  • Identify barriers to Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and their connection to gender inequality, and design and advocate for inclusive SRHR programmes.

Course topics

The course has five modules covering the following main topics:

  • Gender Equality and Economic Empowerment Gender Parity in Leadership and Political Representation
  • Gender-Based Violence and Legal Reforms
  • Gender Equality in Climate Action, Finance and Sustainability
  • Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights and Social Protection
  • Gender responsive Monitoring, Evaluation, and Accountability (Cross-Cutting Objective across all the topics)

Teaching methods

This short course involves an interactive learning approach, in which the participant is stimulated to move beyond his/her own organization, country or sector. Learnings take place through:

  • Classroom interactive lecturing
  • Workshops:
  • In-class group assignments to reflect on the learning,presentations and discussions
  • Individual assignments, presentatiosn and discussions
  • Guest lectures
  • Case Studies
  • Capstone Project

The program is designed for:

  • Executives with responsibility for gender policy and/or women entrepreneurship policy
  • Consultants and lecturers working in areas related to gender policy and/or women entrepreneurship policy
  • Climate Chance and Climate Finance experts, and project managers  
  • All executives and other staff who are dedicated to promote gender equality and women empowerment in their institution and country 

Certificate

Each participant receives a certificate of participation.
This certificate is being awarded as evidence of participation in a post-graduate training at indicative level 6 or 7 of the EQF. The minimum study load is 14 hours and an attendance level of 80% is required. This certificate is being awarded in the form of a soft copy when the training is online or a hard copy during a face-to-face training.
