The city of Maastricht never makes you feel like an outsider
Going to study abroad is not an overnight decision. There are many choices to consider, like choosing your study location. This might raise questions and concerns about the city you will live in for quite a while. Will there be a language barrier? Will I feel comfortable in this city? Is it safe? What about the social life?
Subhomoy Bandyopadhyay went through the same process when he decided to move from India to Maastricht last year to study the Master in Management at MSM:
“Quite unnerving, uncertain, and unsettling! Isn’t it? But every bit of it, quite worthwhile. The decision to come to Maastricht has been one of the best decisions of my life. From accepting people to the ease of getting through everyday life with English, the city never made me feel like an outsider. The lifelong friends made, the diverse experiences lived – none of those would have been possible if I would have stayed in the comfort of my home in India."
Being the home of many international students and organizations, Maastricht is a vibrant city with lots of things to do. The English language is widely understood and spoken. As the oldest city of the Netherlands it is a cultural center with excellent museums, theaters and cinemas. Maastricht lies at the crossroad of three countries at a close travel distance from major European cities like Paris, London, Amsterdam, Brussels and Frankfurt. And did you know that Maastricht is also considered to be a very safe city to live in?
Without doubt a city to embrace when choosing the one year MSM Full-time MBA or Master in Management.
Subhomoy has some advice on how to enjoy Maastricht to the fullest:
"The key to an immersive experience of this city and its culture lies in having patience and being proactive. Get out, live life. The city awaits you, with its arms wide open. The only thing that will ever stop you from being a part of “everything” is you. There will be challenges, a lot of them. Spearheadedly overcome them, and you will be left with enrichment and accomplishment. It has been an amazing year for me, I wish the same for everyone else after me."
