Thinking and Acting on Finance for Sudanese Development Transformation
The Project Finance course implemented by MSM at the Federal Ministry of Transport and the Federal Ministry of Urban Development, Roads and Bridges in Sudan aims at helping Sudanese public servants find the best-fit financial responses to the ongoing development challenges facing the country during this transitional period. This course supported by NUFFIC was delivered online by Luís Mah and Jorge Fernandez Vidal from 4 till 8 September 2021.
The online course brought together lecturers in Lisbon and Madrid with Sudanese civil servants in Khartoum involved in a task force to design and implement a strategic and action plan for the institutional transformation of the two ministries.
The 5-day customised course allowed the participants to work in groups to reflect, discuss and engage with the current finance for development debates and practices, in particular the ones involving private sector, blended finance instruments and impact investment measurements. This was important as, during their assignments, the groups showed that they were now aware the importance of connecting the task force´s projects with national goals and the SDG agenda.
About the Project
MSM is collaborating with the Sudan Federal Ministry of Transport, the Federal Ministry of Urban Development, Roads and Bridges and Sudan Urban Development Think Tank Organization in organising the TMT to provide the taskforce with skills and practical instruments to better identify the appropriate direction of change and guide their organisations through the transition process starting from strategic planning, change management, stakeholder management and facilitation, through project design, monitoring and finance.
