Mastering Strategic Leadership: Unleashing Effective Strategies with Practical Insights
On Monday 13 November, 2023 we welcomed 17 professionals from 13 different countries for MSM’s Short Executive Programme on Strategic Leadership. This practice-oriented programme is designed to educate (potential) leaders on the crucial elements of effective strategic leadership.
Mr. Christiano de Moraes (Brazil) is a co-founder of the company he works for. In 2015, the company merged with a multinational company in a 50/50 partnership. Since then, they faced challenges, but now they are ready to take off: “My personal plan is to play a more strategic role in the company and hand over the general management to someone else in the coming years. Therefore, I applied for this programme. I need to broaden my leadership mindset and become less centralised and more strategic.”
For Ms. Fatime Rrahmani (Kosovo) one of the things interested her the most was the diverse and international learning environment of MSM: “I am eager to engage in collaborative learning with professionals from various backgrounds. The Strategic Leadership Programme not only aligns with my professional development at work and my commitment to the project, but also equippes me with new tools and techniques. With these acquired skills, I aspire to enhance my strategic thinking and management, effectively applying them in my professional endeavors.”
"Ms. Sandra Nguemo Amoh (Nigeria) first heard about MSM from her director, who is an MSM alumnus. "I checked out MSM and personally found it interesting in terms of reputation and, more importantly, what the school had to offer. Consequently, I decided to apply for the strategic leadership programme to benefit from the rich course content, improve my knowledge and skills on the subject matter, and upgrade my academic and career profile."
About the executive Strategic Leadership programme
Both private and public organisations need to adapt to numerous outside world developments such as technological developments, economic development, the need for more social responsibility and increased international competition. Strategic management and leadership deals with processes aimed at setting the organisation’s direction, objectives and priorities in the changing landscape, at focusing on internal energy and resources to achieve the objectives and at aligning internal and external stakeholders. Strategic management and leadership is about analysis, decision making and planning. It is also about implementation of strategic plans to realise the desired performance.
Mr. Leo Kerklaan, Strategic Performance Management expert, designed this practice-oriented programme to inform (potential) leaders about the most relevant aspects of effective strategic leadership and he offers the tools and instruments that can help in developing and implementing effective strategies.
Mr. de Moreas was very positive about how the way Mr. Kerklaan delivered the content: “Mr. Leo Kerklaan has a very didactic approach, very patient. Besides that, he has a lot of experience and knowledge in strategic matters and in the field.”
Also from Ms. Amoh nothing but positive words about Mr. Kerklaan: "I personally found Mr. Kerklaan to be a highly professional and knowledgeable trainer on the subject matter of the training. His discussion-based and interactive training method brought the course theory to life in terms of practicality and applicability. Additionally, he employs an inclusive teaching style that aims to engage trainees both individually and as a group."
