Leading Change Management successfully
From 18 - 22 November 2024, another Short Executive Programme on Change Management took place at MSM. The programme brought together professionals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, creating a rich learning environment where participants could exchange insights and experiences.
For Ms. Andana Borcan (Romania), the timing of the programme aligned perfectly with her current professional challenges. “My organisation is currently going through change. I wanted to help and guide this process by learning and acquiring the proper tools to deal with this context,” she explained. Reflecting on her experience, she added: “The programme was very informative, useful, and a fun way to learn more about this topic. The style of first learning the theoretical part and then putting it into practice aligned with my way of learning.”
Sharing a learning environment with an international group of participants was another highlight for many. Ms. Borcan commented: “Hearing and learning about different backgrounds and cultures is the perfect way to better understand the change management topic, but also to see its applicability from different angles and realise its complexity.”
Mr. Stephan Hayk (the Netherlands) expressed his long-held ambition to join the programme. “I applied for this programme many years ago, but for some reason, I could not arrange my time to participate. Now I have finally arranged it.” Reflecting on the week, he said: “I have gained new skills in management, especially in change management. I know understand the key components of change management, and the rest depends on how I can develop my skills later in my work environment.”
About the Change Management programme
Change is a constant factor in today’s global business world. Organisations have to adapt to their external environment, but also make changes within their own structure. Organisational change requires a fundamentally different approach to organisational processes from the traditional approach of management. Managers have to decide on the direction of change and guide their organisation through the transition process.
Dr. Geert Heling, Professor of Practice in Organisational Behaviour, designed the Short Executive Programme on Change Management to help professionals to understand the rationale and objectives of organisational change and how to communicate these to the stakeholders involved. Furthermore, crucial for the success of the change process is to understand – and even more importantly - to handle the resistance factor at the start of the process.
