Kazakh students visit Maastricht for MBA courses
“Thanks to the two-week study attachment in Maastricht I received an in-depth understanding of the development of business of European and international companies.” This said Ruslan Aisin, student in the joint MSM-Almaty Management University MBA program, after the completion of the two week study attachment in Maastricht. Thirteen Kazakh students from the joint program recently visited MSM in Maastricht for their courses in Global Supply Chain Management and Marketing in a Global Context.
The Global Supply Chain Management course provided the students with concepts, models and methods that are important for the design, control, operation, and management of global supply chains in a dynamic world. The course introduced frameworks and approaches that can be used to describe and analyze related supply chain strategies. “The learning experience was great. Both tutors were very positive and attentive”, said student Vitality Kim after the courses.
The main objective of the Marketing in a Global Context course was to study the opportunities and challenges faced by marketing managers operating in a global environment and the key decisions that should be made by multinational companies in order to benefit from global marketing in an optimum manner. For student Zhansaya Syzdykova one of the key points learned was: “that every market is different and while going global you should recognize it and assess it and prepare a proper plan prior to entering the new market. And there are plenty of tools to do it, but the main one is CAGE distance framework to analyze the cultural, administrative, geographical and economic differences between two markets (countries).”
The students also enjoyed two work visits to experience theory in practice, one to the City Hall in Venlo and one to Cabooter Venlo.
For Zhansaya Syzdykova one of the other highlights was the fact that the courses took place in Maastricht. “I like the city of Maastricht very much. It is a calm, nice and cozy city with a unique history and friendly people.” For Ruslan Aisin one of the other highlights was the fact that the training on the campus of MSM contributed to the cohesion of the group “as the participants practically lived in one place and had the opportunity to communicate and carry out joint practical projects.”
