Building resilient water utilities in Palestine

28-06-2024

During a 5-day intensive training week at the start of June in Amman, 15 Palestinian water professionals took part in the “Building Resilient Water Utilities” training of Maastricht School of Management (MSM).

In Palestine they are working on major reforms in the water sector to among others establish regional water utilities. Palestine has many small water utilities which need to be merged into bigger regional water utilities. Within this project MSM is supporting the creation of the new regional water utilities to assure their economic viability and sustainability.

Under the lead of Prof. Meine Pieter van Dijk and Hans Nijhoff from MSM, 15 participants from regional water utilities, water authorities and municipalities dived into the subjects of business planning, alternative financing and building public private partnerships.
