A Participant’s Journey Through MSM’s Short Executive Programme on Digital Transformation

28-01-2025

“I gained invaluable insights and developed a deeper understanding of critical aspects to consider during the implementation of our digital transformation project.” These were the words of Ms Esra Ali from Libya after successfully completing the Short Executive Programme on Digital Transformation, which took place from 20–24 January 2025.

Ms Ali continued: “The programme broadened my perspective and provided practical frameworks for tackling complex challenges. While it was an intensive and busy week, the comprehensive coverage of key topics made it a truly enriching experience. The discussions on various dimensions of digital transformation were highly relevant and engaging, providing me with tools and knowledge that will undoubtedly support our project’s success.”

Ms Ali applied for the programme because of her role in the Business Process Management project at the Libyan International University, which is centred around achieving digital transformation: “This course presented an invaluable opportunity to enhance my knowledge and skills in this area. Furthermore, I was motivated to join because I wanted to contribute more effectively to our project’s goals and to share the knowledge and strategies I gained with my colleagues and the broader university community.”

About the Programme
Over the past twenty years, we have witnessed the integration of digital transformation in nearly all areas and sectors of the economy. Currently, digital technologies are revolutionising every aspect of business. Digital transformation is not simply about implementing cutting-edge digital technologies across all functions of an organisation; it entails strategy, leadership, and new ways of thinking and working.

Dr Vincent Feltkamp, lead trainer of this programme, explained the purpose of the programme: “This programme is designed to introduce participants to the multidisciplinary process of transforming businesses. We delve into organisational activities, processes, competencies, and business models. Participants will not only grasp the fundamental components of digital transition but will also explore the five domains of digital transformation – customer, competition, data, innovation, and value.”

For Ms Ali, Dr Feltkamp was an outstanding trainer: “Dr Feltkamp brought a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to the programme. His ability to explain complex concepts clearly and relate them to real-world scenarios made the sessions both engaging and insightful. He also introduced us to Dr Davy Cielen, who delivered an excellent presentation on Generative AI and Agentic Systems, adding another layer of depth to the programme. Their combined expertise and dynamic approach created an inspiring learning environment, leaving a lasting impression on all participants.”

When we asked Ms Ali how she will benefit from the knowledge gained throughout the programme, she answered: “The knowledge and insights I gained during the programme will significantly enhance my ability to contribute to the digital transformation project at our university. It has equipped me with new strategies, methodologies, and a clearer understanding of how to navigate the complexities of such an initiative. Moreover, I am confident that I can transfer this knowledge to my team and other university staff, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration that supports our digital transformation journey."
