Support for the creation of the Institute of Digital Technologies (ITN) in Burundi
Maastricht University – Maastricht School of Management (MSM) and the Department of Advanced Computer Sciences (DACS) - supports the new Institut de Technologie Numerique (ITN) of the Université de Burundi with the development of educational programmes in the area of IT.
The project is part of a policy of the Burundian government to improve the employability of young people, particularly in the area of digital skills. The Government of Burundi has therefore decided to establish the Institut de Technologies Numeriques (ITN) within the University of Burundi. To support them in this endeavour, the Government of Burundi, supported by the World Bank, was seeking a foreign university with vast experience in this field.
MSM is responsible for support in establishing a portfolio for professional training, the development of an incubator with its program(s), and for management and leadership training. Together with DACS, MSM will facilitate university-industry relations through setting up cooperation mechanisms and student projects. DACS is responsible for the curriculum development, staff training on computer sciences and on project-based learning, and PhD research.

This project is funded by the World Bank and will run from December 2024 until December 2028.
