Entrepreneurship capacity building for three universities in Algeria
Project & Country Background:
Youth unemployment is one of the biggest problems Algeria is facing today. 60% of the Algerian population is under 35, and the unemployment rate for young people (16-24 years old) is 26.9%- When it comes to gender, the unemployment rate for men is 9.1% and the unemployment rate for women is estimated at 20.4%. In this respect universities are expected to contribute to alleviating youth unemployment.
Main Project Purpose:
The main aim of the project is to assist Université d'Oran 1, Université d'Oran 2, and ESAA to develop and implement entrepreneurship programs that can improve the entrepreneurial mindset of their students and support student’ startups.
The following results are foreseen:
- A thorough needs assessment of each university to map the context specific needs
- Mapping of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Algeria
- Incubation program development and ToT on incubation
- A proposal for a new entrepreneurship education curriculum and ToT programme developed, with special focus on female entrepreneurship
